Bruised scene?
Joel Meyerowitz talked about his candid street photography and how, if the subject sees what the photographer is doing, then it immediately stops being candid because “the scene has been bruised".
It looks like I failed in that here, given the startled look, aimed directly down the barrel of the lens and the body language. In fact, it turns out that the camera does lie, after all. What was actually happening was that she was reaching for her bag to check something.
The subject was not harmed in any way!
