What’s next for PortraitMode?
Hello PortraitMode community!
As we come to the end of 2022 and look back at the past year, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together and share some of our plans for 2023.
🎉 Year in review
2022 was a big year for PortraitMode.
We implemented a notification system to keep users informed of activity on the platform, incorporated albums into profiles so users can organize and showcase their photos, and introduced categories to help users discover and explore different types of street photography.
These are just a few examples of the features we’ve implemented to make PortraitMode a better resource for street photographers. We also launched the PortraitMode membership and, just last month, we finally released the Android mobile app.
To date, PortraitMode has grown to over 3k+ photographers and has seen more than 17k+ photos posted on the platform. It’s been an exciting journey and we’re grateful to have such a passionate community of photographers.
A huge shoutout to all the YouTubers, content creators and anyone who has helped spread the word about PortraitMode. We also want to thank our beta testers, early adopters, and all of the talented street photographers who have contributed to the platform.
Your support and contributions have helped make PortraitMode the platform it is today.
🔮 What’s next?
In 2023, we have a number of plans and tasks on our roadmap that we think will take the platform to the next level.
Here are just a few of the things we’re working on:
- Further improving the Android app, including addressing any issues that may have come up since its launch
- Beginning development on the iOS app
- Adding new features such as photo “carousels” and a “stories”-like feature for more casual posting
- Enhancing engagement and discoverability for photos, categories, cameras, and users
- Revamping and improving parts of the website, such as the photo submission process
- Onboarding moderators to help with reviewing photos on the platform
- and much more…
🙏 Thank you!
We’re excited about all the possibilities for 2023 and can’t wait to see what the future holds for PortraitMode. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
Thank you for publishing on PortraitMode.
Cheers,
David

Wow, carousels! Can’t wait!
Yep, I think that’s much needed. I find myself wanting to post a few photos from one shoot but feel they don’t make “great” individual posts. That’s where carousels will come in handy.
Same for “stories” actually. That will be great for photos that don’t make it in the portfolio but are still worth being shared.
David, can we have a most viewed section rather than a most added section or as well as a most added section?
Artists will then know what appeals to other Street Photographers, and it will be an educational lesson being in this community.
Thank you David! All the best to you and all of us in 2023!
Really excited for the iOS app and the moderators.
Great 2023 for everyone!
I’m new here but think this is great, I’ve tried Viewbug and Gurushots and they are sadly just all about their earnings and hunting likes and awards for your profile that doesn’t necessarily actually mean your photos are any good or unique.
What I’m hoping for though is that occasionally there might be opportunity here some day to get a little exposure from an article published somewhere or maybe a crowdfunding for doing a exhibition with members from here you can sign up for or something.
I believe so many hidden gems are hidden among us hobby and amateur photographers that never get the chance to be discovered because they are not trying to be influencers or live on Instagram or simply needs a mentor who know the ropes to get their pictures out there.
Happy new year and a wonderful year 2023 hopefully to come.
Is there a way to report issues?
I’m facing an issue with the android app while trying to upload photos:
1. Tap on ‘+’ (to upload a photo)
2. Tap on ‘Select a photo’
3. A black screen with the next text is shown “Unknown select”.
App v0.32.0
Android 13 (Le2125_11.F.17)
Btw, the app is looking great!
Hey Arturo,
that’s a known issue which we are trying to solve at the moment, along with another bug where people are being logged-out of the app. We hope to have both of these issues fixed soon!
Cheers,
David
This is now fixed, please update the app to the latest version 🙂
“Allowed file size exceeded. Your photo should be smaller than 12mb.”This issue has always disturbing me
