I’m a big fan of ‘realist’ NYC street (think Daniel Arnold, Aaron Berger) and ‘absurdist’ (think Pau Buscato, Richard Kalvar) but I keep coming back to Ernst Haas. I wanted to create a film simulation that echos Haas’s color Ektachrome palette (think NYC in Color 1952 - 1962). I’ve been fussing over this for several weeks now. I read about the chemical process, the dyes, the tech etc. and tried to create a Fuji film simulation. Results are mixed. I like the golden hour but it’s been hit and miss and quite humbling. I’m pretty sure I could clean these up in C1 but the point was to create something SOOC just like Haas. Against my better judgement, here are few images white balanced at daylight, warts and all.
