About This Competition
Strip away the color and what’s left is light, shape, and shadow – the bones of a photograph. Black and white has a way of turning a fleeting moment on the street into something timeless, removing distraction so the composition, the gesture, the contrast do the talking.
For our very first competition, we’re inviting street photographers of all skill levels to submit their strongest black and white shot. A candid moment, a striking silhouette, a slice of city life caught in tone rather than color.
Rules
- One submission per participant.
- Photos must be black and white.
- Color photos converted to black and white are allowed.
- Photos must follow all our submission guidelines.
Voting
Each member receives 100 points to allocate across photos, in increments of 5. Points can be concentrated on a single entry or distributed across several, entirely at the voter’s discretion.
The three submissions with the highest point totals at the close of competition are declared the winners. Until then, votes are not final. Points can be reallocated between submissions at any time before the competition closes.
Cost to entry
This competition is free to enter.
Prizes
- 1st place – $80 cash, 1 year of Pro membership including 6 Boosts
- 2nd place – $60 cash, 6 months of Pro membership including 4 Boosts
- 3rd place – $40 cash, 2 Boosts
The top three photos will be awarded an achievement badge.
