Here’s a quick overview of what’s been keeping us busy lately and what’s coming next for PortraitMode.

A fresh look for PortraitMode

We’ve been quietly working on a facelift for the website. A lot of the changes are already live – you may have noticed some things looking a little different. There’s more to come as we continue to roll this out across the platform.

Competitions 🏆

We’re working on bringing Competitions to PortraitMode.

The general idea: a theme is announced, you submit your best shot, and the community votes on submissions using a set number of tokens. We haven’t locked down every detail yet – this is still being shaped – but that’s the core of it.

Competitions will be free to enter and will run on a recurring basis. Further down the road, we’re also exploring paid competitions where winners could receive prizes such as cameras.

Feedback Tokens are now Boosts

We’ve renamed Feedback Tokens to Boosts. The mechanics are the same – boosted photos get extra exposure and feedback is encouraged – but the new name does a better job of describing what they actually do. Alongside the rename, boosted photos are now flagged in the timeline so they’re easier to spot.

In-app purchases

We’re also exploring in-app purchases for both PortraitMode Pro and Boosts. The goal is to make the full PortraitMode experience more accessible across all platforms, regardless of how you prefer to subscribe.
