Our first-ever Competition is live!

Today we’re launching something we’ve worked on behind the scenes for months: Competitions. We are kicking it off with one close to our roots as a street photography community:

Black & White Everything

Street photography started in black and white, and there’s a reason so many photographers still come back to it. Strip away the color and what’s left is light, shape, and shadow – the bones of a photograph. It has a way of turning a fleeting moment into something timeless, letting the composition, the gesture, the contrast do the talking.

For our first-ever competition, we wanted to go back to that. No gimmicks, no theme too clever for its own good – just your strongest black and white photograph.

How it works

• One submission per participant
• Photos must be black and white (color photos converted to B&W are allowed)
• Community voting decides the winners
• Free to enter

The prizes

• 1st place – $100 cash + 1 year of PortraitMode Pro (incl. 6 Boosts)
• 2nd place – $50 cash + 6 months of PortraitMode Pro (incl. 3 Boosts)
• 3rd place – 6 months of PortraitMode Pro (incl. 3 Boosts)

The top three photos will also earn an achievement badge.

Help us make it better

This is the first of what we hope will be many competitions to come. Submit your best black and white photograph and let the community vote.

Since this is our first live test run of Competitions, we’ll be keeping a close eye on things across both the website and the app over the next two weeks. If you run into any issues – a submission that won’t upload, votes not registering, weird behavior anywhere or if you have feedback in general – please reach out through our contact form or let us know in the comments below.
