What’s new at PortraitMode?

We’ve been busy behind the scenes, and we wanted to take a moment to share what we’ve been working on.

From app improvements to a successful second competition, plus some news on how you can support where PortraitMode goes next.

App improvements

We’ve spent the last few weeks heads-down improving the PortraitMode app across pretty much all areas. From performance to usability, our goal was to make the experience smoother and more enjoyable every time you open the app.

This work is still ongoing, and your feedback continues to shape what we prioritize next.

PortraitMode stays ad-free & community-backed

PortraitMode runs ad-free. No banners, no ads, no clutter – just street photography.

That’s only possible because it is backed directly by the community.

The truth is, we hate ads just as much as you do. But running PortraitMode isn’t free, and the hours and days we pour into this project come at a real cost. I’ll go into more detail about this in a separate post in the future (costs vs. earnings, etc.).

If you’d like to help out, consider signing up for a Supporter plan at $24/year, or go further with a Pro membership.

In-app purchases are here

Supporting PortraitMode just got a lot easier. You can now make in-app purchases to grab Boosts, sign up for PortraitMode Pro, or become a Supporter – all without leaving the app.

It’s a simple, direct way to back the PortraitMode project.

Light & Shadow

Our second Competitions round wrapped up with 80 submitted photos. A fantastic turnout that showed just how much talent is in this community. Thank you to everyone who entered, voted, and cheered each other on.

The next competition Code Red is launching soon, and we’re excited to see what you bring to it.

We’re also actively looking for partners so we can offer better prizes to participants and winners in future Competitions.
